    Description

    WWI
Model 1860 - 1906 Cavalry Officers Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is faintly marked "A.S. Co." (stands for Ames Sword Company of Chicopee) over a Flaming Bomb and over "1906", the reverse is marked "U.S." over "J-C". The pommel cap has a "C" on it. The iron guard is tight but a bit deformed. The grip is missing 50% of the leather (it is lightly flaking off), the twisted wire wrap is complete and tight
. The blade is unsharpened, the tip is a little sharp, a few very minor nicks along the blade edge, and age spots scattered throughout with some light surface rust. The leather washer is intact. The scabbard is solid with no dents, there is a "J-C" on the drag, a part of the throat piece appears to have broken off, and it is missing a hanger ring. It does not fit the sword correctly although its the right kind of scabbard, the curve of the blade is greater than the curve of the scabbard, sword goes in and will get stuck a couple inches from all the way. Length of the blade is 35" (1 1/16" wide and 5/16" thick), overall the sword is 40 3/4", and the scabbard alone is 36 3/4".
