The Sony MSW-M2000 is a professional MPEG IMX format VTR. The deck will also playback the entire Sony 1/2-inch legacy formats from Betacam Oxide through Digital Betacam and Beta SX. The beauty of the MPEG IMX format is that it can be used with direct access to computer networks and the Internet. The MPEG-2 encoding has been chosen the standard for DTV distribution. It is considered high quality reproduction with low cost and extremely wide ranging platform compatibility. Post-production platforms requiring open compression standards are the reason MPEG IMX was developed. The MSW-M2000 allows broadasters to utilize current 1/2-inch equipment while keeping an eye to the future
