    Red Lodge Miner's Union Button
Here is a nice little celluloid pinback button from the Red Lodge Miner's Union. I have had four colors and numbers of these, and I am assuming that they were handed out to the miner when he paid his dues, either monthly or quarterly. There is a paper insert showing that the button was made by the Whitehead & Hoag Co. with patent dates up to 1896 listed. The button is slightly smaller than a US Quarter.
The Red Lodge Montana area was a coal producing area from the 1880's - 1960's. The miner's were represented by the United Mine Workers of America, the Western Federation of Miners, and the Industrial Workers of the World at different points over the years. This is a nice little button to add to your trade union or mining collection.
Please take a good look at my photos for the best description!
Be sure to watch my listings for a wide variety of high quality junk from the great state of Montana. I have taken a long hiatus to battle cancer once again, but I am back and you never know what I might pull out of the closets or off the walls!
    THANKS!
