PRE WWI US M1905 BAYO-SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 1909-NICE ORIGINAL BLADE FINISH

Description

Very good condition original pre WWI US Model 1905 bayonet for the Model 1903 Springfield rifle. Maker marked “SA” on the left ricasso for Springfield Armory and dated 1909 with a flaming bomb proof mark. Right ricasso is marked “US” with a serial number. Full length 16” blade has nice correct original metal finish of blued strip at the base and remaining bright, which shows some scattered gray and brown patina. Has been sharpened. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing a little normal wear. Wood grips have original finish and a good tight fit, lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original leather covered scabbard that was arsenal modified from the Krag style hanger to the M1910 belt hook. Maker marked “R.I.A.” for Rock Island Arsenal and dated 1907 with inspector initials. Leather shows some normal wear, stitching and rivets are tight. A nice early M1905 bayonet for your collection.
